Civil society expects greater accountability from these commercial companies, although the term \"accountability\" does not necessarily mean legal responsibility alone. While in English there is a distinction between \u201cliability\u201d, used in the context of legal responsibility, and \u201cresponsibility\u201d or \u201caccountability\u201d, used in the context of moral responsibility, the French term \u201cresponsabilit\u00e9\u201d can encompass both notions. The focus on responsible companies would thus encompass both these dimensions of responsibility, and not be limited to legal responsibility
